Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician. Born October 20, 1964, she was the 49th Vice President of the United States. She is the first vice president to be female and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as being the first African American and first Asian American vice president. She is a senator and former US senator who represents California. Harris was born in Oakland and attended Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Her first job was with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was appointed district attorney for San Francisco. In 2010 Harris was elected Attorney General of California and was re-elected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States senator from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As Senator, Harris was a vocal advocate for federal de-scheduling of healthcare, and the legalization of cannabis as a pathway to citizenship of undocumented immigrants, as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She was well-known for the direct questioning she conducted of Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
